Dates and time frames for application from WCED for Grade 8 only:

Admissions open: 10 March 2026

Admissions close: 14 April 2026 before 00:00

School process applications:  15 April to 18 May 2026

Parents will be informed of the outcome via sms/email from the WCED:  28 May to 10 June 2026

Parents confirm acceptance online:  28 May to 15 June 2026 before 00:00

Parents are requested to hand in certified hard copies of the uploaded documents as well as the Letter of Confirmation received from the WCED. 

Applications for Grades 9 to 11 opens on 3 August 2026 and closes on 17 August 2026.

How do parents apply?

Apply online.  Visit:  wcedonline.westerncape.gov.za and follow the prompts.

Apply within the time frame.

Kindly note that applications are not dealt with on a first come first serve basis.  Applications will only be processed after the closing date to give all applicants a fair chance.

Schools determine placement by exercising and applying their own admission policy which should be aligned to the South African Schools Act, 1996 (Act 84 of 1996). The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) cannot guarantee placement at schools of choice.

Apply to at least 3 schools, including the closest one to your place of residence.

What documents are required to be uploaded?

•  Latest school report

• Copy of Birth Certificate of Learner

• Proof of Residence in the form of a Municipal Account (both pages) or a fully signed valid Lease contract  

• Study Permit in case of Foreign Learner (upload under school report)

Incomplete applications will not be processed. 

Please make sure:

that all uploaded documents are of a decent quality and legible

that email details and cellphone numbers are correct

Fees

No fees may be charged before a learner has been accepted.
