Equestrian Team

Fairmont's Equestrian Team consists of all the riders who compete at SANESA and represent Fairmont throughout the year. For the last two years Fairmont's Equestrian Team has won the High school category trophy for most points accumulated at all four SANESA qualifiers.

SANESA is a vibrant and dynamic organization, acknowledged by the South African Equestrian Federation (SAEF) and SASCOC, and has dedicated itself to promoting all forms of Equestrian sport within the South Africa’s schools’ community.

Currently SANESA have 15 diverse equestrian competition disciplines.   Each Province in South Africa has SANESA representation and some Provinces are also broken up into Regions.  Every Province/Region holds up to 4 multi-discipline competitions in the first 7 months of the year and then the top 8 riders with the most accumulated points in each discipline go forward to represent their Province at the annual SANESA National Championships during September/October.

 Pony Club

Fairmont Equestrian Club has joined the Helderberg Pony Club at Nika's riding centre, Bon Equine Stables, just outside Stellenbosch. The students will learn more about horses, participate in fun riding activities, occasionally do shows and outings, and make new horsey friends. Pony Club takes place once or twice a month on a Saturday afternoon. Students can also take part if they have their own horse. The annual membership fee for Pony Club is R220, and the cost of each rally is R20. There is also a once off payment of R50, to cover the cost of your club pin

Pony Club is an international Club that riders around the world participate in to learn more about horses, riding and to make other horsey friends. Riders work from workbooks and gain badges (like scouts and girl guides, but the horse version) once they have accomplished certain subjects. They also earn certificates that they can use to show at school and if they qualify for their B and C certificate it is helpful and seen as a qualification internationally if they wish to work in the equestrian industry.
