Schotsche Kloof Cancelled

All the rugby matches vs. Schotsche Kloof for this coming weekend was canceled by our opposition, reason given; due to their fields being use during the Soccer World Club they did not had practice sessions with there players and many of the players went to play for other clubs, it is now impossible for them to put teams together to play against us.

Interact Society

July 2010 - Our Interact Society has received the Rotary INTERNATIONAL citation award – Fairmont has been recognized as an international award winning Interact!

News Highlights

SOCIETIES AT FAIRMONT

Fairmont, under the leadership of Ms Piek, offer 16 Society Activities.  Thank you to our teachers for their input in providing a wide range of activities and interests for our pupils.

The list of societies for 2010 is:

Interact
A society to provide assistance to the less privileged in our community and creating an awareness of the social problems plaguing our community.

Grapevine
A society for aspiring journalists and photographers to participate in the school newspaper.

Debating
A society that not only focuses on debating issues but also on learning public speaking skills and building confidence, self-esteem and self-image.

Quiz
A society where participants take part in mind sport (as individuals or in teams).

Toastmasters
A society for the purpose of helping members improve their communication, public speaking and leadership skills.

Dancing – already launched a Ballroom competition with Fred Estaire
A society giving learners the opportunity to learn how to dance, improve coordination, rhythm, confidence and creativity.

Hospitality
A society where learners acquire the skills and knowledge of event planning, table etiquette, hosting, etc.

Photography
A society to provide students with the opportunity to take photographs, help students become comfortable behind their cameras and to guide students with their photography.

Green (The only thing that cannot be recycled is a waste of time)
A society to create awareness about energy saving, preserving natural resources (recycle/reduce/re-use), litter on school grounds, sustainable development (green buildings) and letting waste work for you.

Music Appreciation
A society to expose learners to different genres of music to enable them to appreciate that genre. 

Choir
A society enabling students to perform together, develop their singing abilities as individuals and as a group and to represent Fairmont in various settings.

M5
A society that encourages learners to live out their Christian faith, be an encouragement to one another and to demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ at Fairmont and in the community.

JSE Investment Challenge
A society to introduce learners to the world of investing: trading, stock broking, JSE, interaction with business, etc.

Adventure
A society to provide learners with the opportunity to engage in various adventure events.

Film and Theatre Appreciation
A society where learners can attend and discuss various theatre productions and films.

Sound and Lighting
A society that creates a platform where learners can develop their talents and skills to the point where they are able to effectively facilitate and host functions along with providing a service to the school for their events, assemblies, etc.
