Ethan Joseph recently entered a poetry competition and has been selected as one of the finalists. His poem will be published and is entitled ‘Abandoned’. Fairmont will be purchasing copies of the anthology in which this poem will be published, so be sure to visit the library to read this spectacular poem.

Tara Falkenberg took part in the 4th leg of the: Junior National Off-Road Quad Bike Championship, which was held in Naboomspruit this weekend. She came 1st in the Junior Ladies class, 4th in the Senior Ladies class and 7th in the Junior Open class, against all the boys. She is now currently lying 4th in the Junior Open National Championship.

Chelsea Patterson in Grade 12 participated in the USA Open Sport Martial Arts championships in Orlando, Florida on the 9^th and 10^th of July.  She was placed 2^nd in both her points and continuous fights and then again 2^nd in brown to black belt continuous.  She represented South Africa as part of the national NMA team.

There have been 5 league races so far, Jarred Brown has finished 3rd, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 1st respectively. We have 2 league races left, this week and next week. Jarred will definitely go through to the Zonal Championships on the 4th August, and then on to WP on 14th August.

Katherine Comer will have to qualify in one more race to go through to the Zonals. Jarred Bekker and Dino van der Merwe will have to qualify in both the following 2 races to go through to the Zonals.
