Boys Hockey

Boys Hockey Results vs Wynberg

(Home teams mentioned first)

1sts: Wynberg 6(3) beat Fairmont 1())

In a fast and furious match in which play swung from one end of the field to the other, it was Wynberg that did the scoring, making fewer mistakes around the circle. Robin Fannin scored Fairmont's only goal, and was unlucky not to score again after breaking through from the half-way line. Cameron Delport in goals was the Fairmont Man of the Match, as his spectacular saves brought applause from all the spectators.

Fairmont 2nds 2(2) drew with Wynberg 3rds 2(1)

After dominating the first half, Fairmont was forced to defend grimly to finish with a draw. However this was yet another good result for the 2nds. Well done!

U16A: Wynberg 3(1) beat Fairmont 0(0)

The Fairmont team gave their best performance of the season, perhaps doing it for their coach, Luan Stoop, who was involved in a car accident on the way to the match. With Wynberg scoring their first goal seconds before half-time, and again late in the second half, the U16A team can be proud of this result.

Wynberg U16C drew 0 - 0 with Fairmont U16B

This was a game that Fairmont should have won as they had 60% of the ball. The few opportunities that Wynberg had were very dangerous, but thanks to some splendid saves by Michael Austin, the result was a draw.

Fairmont U16C 2(1) beat Wynberg U16D 0(0)

Well done to our only winners against Wynberg!

Wynberg U14A 5(5) beat Fairmont U14A 2(0)

In a lethargic performance by Fairmont, it was evident that the team needed to revise its game plan on the field, and play according to the coach’s instructions right from the start, which was the case in the second half.

After half-time Fairmont out-played Wynberg, and scored twice through Jamie Christians.

Wynberg U14C 3(2) beat Fairmont U14B 2(1)

Fairmont was over-awed by the big occasion of playing one of the boys’ schools away from home. However, they came back well after a poor start.

Uk Touring Team

On Monday 26 July, Fairmont hosted two touring schools from the UK, Charters School and Exeter School. The Charter School brought their u14A boys and girls and was hosted for one night.  Matches took place on Monday and the results were very favourable; the u14A girls played first and won their game 2-1, and the u14A boys followed up the girls’ win by also beating the Charters boys 2-0.  We hosted Exeter School’s u16A hockey girls and their u17 rugby group for two nights. The matches took place on Tuesday 27 July and kicking off with the girls’ hockey matches, to the delight of the numerous spectators. The girls unfortunately lost 3-0 to a very well polished hockey team with some excellent goals scored on Exeter’s part. The 1st team Fairmont rugby boys were more successful, as they beat the Exeter boys 36-0.  Thank you to our parents for hosting our visitors.

On Saturday 21 August, Fairmont will be hosting our first Derby Day against Edgemead at Fairmont.  Please keep this date in mind as we would very much like you to come along and enjoy the morning with us.
