1.1 Subject choice

1.2 Homework
1.2.1 Home study and revision work is essential. As a guide, the following daily (weekday) homework times are suggested for written and learning work:
Grade 8 - 2 hours
Grade 9 - 2.5 hours
Grades 10 to 12 - 3 hours
Pre-examination study may require additional time.
1.3 Examinations
Year marks are awarded for continuous assessment making use of formative and summative evaluation procedures. The compilation of the final mark will be made known to parents and pupils.
Grade 12’s write three full examinations. Pupils in Grades 8 - 11 follow the two-semester system.
1.4 Library facilities
Fairmont High’s Media Centre is open during the day and also after school Monday to Thursday until 16:00. Pupils are encouraged to use the library for reading or studying quietly. A wide variety of material on many different subjects is available for both pleasure and required reading. All books in the main collection may be taken out for a period of two weeks. Periodicals, newspapers and reference books are available for in-house use. Photocopying facilities are available. Access cards may be purchased from the Librarian.
